Our clients purchased a traditional two-storey home on a beautiful property, just minutes away from the beaches of Lake Erie.  They fell in love with the location and the lush double-wide lot, and wanted to make this the home that they eventually retire in.  Though the home had plenty of square footage, our clients came to us because they were having difficulties furnishing the main floor in a way that was conducive to entertaining and suited their modern style, plus they were looking for ways to better enjoy the outdoors for longer than our short Ontario summer season.  We strategically designed an addition to the home that included a formal dining room and a large 3-season enclosed patio, and maximized the natural light and views of the property.  The combination of indoor and semi-outdoor space was seamlessly integrated into the existing home with a paneled design that complemented the existing finishes, and large windows that bring the outdoors in.  The enclosed patio includes large screens for warmer days, and a gas fireplace to extend it's use into the cooler seasons.  The entire main floor was refreshed with new custom furnishings and a fresh colour palette of light neutrals, warm wood and nature-inspired greens.  The wood kitchen cabinetry was preserved, but we added a new large island, reusing the previous island cabinets as a new coffee station adjacent to the dining room.   Overall, we were able to drastically improve the flow of the home, balance modern elements with the traditional architecture, and create a space that is optimized for entertaining and enjoying the outdoors.
