This rustic barn originated on a different property, and our clients had it dismantled, transported, and rebuilt on a new concrete slab in its current location to use as a garage. Now that their family has grown, they were looking to infuse new life and new purpose into this underutilized building to create functional space for the whole family. Being an active family, they were looking for a place to store hockey equipment bikes and other sports gear, plus a hang-out space that could double as guest space. We completely retrofitted this barn, insulating and sealing the shell and adding heating and cooling with a mini-split system. On the lower level, we created customized storage lockers for hockey equipment and a space to store bikes and use them to train in the winter. In the loft above, we added a large window overlooking the surround orchard and created a fantastic multi-purpose hang-out space, including a ping-pong table, media area, bar, 3-piece bathroom and large sectional with pull-out bed for guests. It took strategic planning to make the most of this loft space with angled ceilings,
