This two-storey house has been home to a family of four for over 15 years.  It had great bones, but our clients were tired of the drab and dated colours and the cramped kitchen.  We transformed this family home from dark and dreary to bright and airy, without sacrificing a warm and cozy feel.  By taking down the wall between the kitchen and living room, we were able to gain the space to create a large inviting kitchen with a 10' island, upgraded appliances and loads of storage, including a hidden pantry in the former dining room nook.  The former living room has become a new dining room complete with frosted glass doors, textured wallpaper, custom drapery and a stunning chandelier.  By moving the powder room, we were able to open up the foyer to create a welcoming entrance, and by utilizing extra space from a garage storage room, we created a more functional laundry room.  The sunken family room got a dramatic facelift with a custom fireplace feature that emphasizes the height of this room.  The whole main floor has been transformed with a palette of light warm neutrals, cool refreshing blues and accents of soft natural oak tones, allowing the natural light to reflect and flow from one space to the next.
